Not to sound completely ignorant, but how many of these stone circles are in Scotland? I get the impression there are more than a few. Or do you keep photographing the same ones? I guess I need to read my travel guide.
Another fine photo and a beautiful stone circle. Do you know if this circle has been restored, or are the stones standing from when they were originally erected?
Thanks Miles. A couple have been re-erected to my knowledge, but it’s generally been left alone. One fallen stone in particular was shattered by lightning only 30 years ago!

Hey Kristin – there are over a 1000 recorded stone circles in the whole of the UK, not sure about Scotland alone. I haven’t visited a hundred yet…….
