Castle Rising taken in 2005.

This castle was built around 1140 ad, was a prison of sorts for Isabella of Spain in 1331, survived the war of the Roses until eventually falling into ruin around 1550.

Some 450 years later it’s still standing and worth a visit – currently in the care of English Heritage.
